What if I told you that there’s a way you can see whether or not an agent you’re considering hiring is great at marketing.
I think we can all agree that marketing your home is one of the most important ways to sell it for the highest possible price. If you are to Google any key term in the city in which you are thinking of selling, say, “real estate San Francisco”, “selling a home in San Francisco”, or “property taxes in San Francisco”. Or any questions you have about the real estate market. Google will decide what websites have the most reputable answer to your query.
I think we can agree that if the real estate agent you’re considering hiring is really good at marketing, they probably market their own business before they think about marketing the properties that they’re selling, which are only going to be on the market if they’re good, hopefully for a week or two. And so if you’re not finding that real estate agent when you’re searching for key terms, perhaps they aren’t the best marketer in the business.
There are a lot of things that Realtors do that are, quite frankly, all of the same when it comes to marketing properties. They’re putting them into MLS. MLS has a button that will automatically syndicate it to 150 sites like Zillow, Redfin, and Trulia. Some of this stuff isn’t revolutionary. It’s just basic.
There is a lot more that can be done in the marketing arena to sell a home for the highest price. Some of those ideas are geofencing, retargeting, and utilizing QR codes in places that get more eyes on properties than anybody else.
