About the Neighborhood

PACIFIC HEIGHTS

Pacific Heights sometimes feels like a movie set with its colorful Victorians and well-maintained mansions. One of the few neighborhoods that survived the 1906 earthquake, it has evolved into an exclusive area with a host of shopping, dining, and entertainment activities for residents and visitors alike. It’s easy to live comfortably without traveling far, with Mollie Stone’s grocery store, the popular Jane Coffee shop, and Fillmore Street within walking distance. Fillmore St. is the main shopping hub, with high-end retail and consignment, and perfectly curated independent boutiques. Pacific Heights is known for its sweeping views, and there is no better place to take them in than the top of the Lyon Street stairs. Use the 332 steps as your workout or take in the sights as you descend toward Cow Hollow and the Marina waterfront. On your way back home, grab Vietnamese street food from the beloved Slanted Door or treat yourself to a Michelin star meal at SPQR. From cozy bistros to hip sushi spots, this neighborhood has something to satisfy every craving. After dinner, head to Laureate Bar and Lounge or Snug for inventive cocktails or settle into a booth at the classic Harry’s Sports Bar. Historic movie theaters are a favorite pastime amongst residents. The Art Deco-style Clay Theatre played San Francisco’s first midnight showing in 1972, and still offers regular midnight screenings of The Room and Rocky Horror Picture Show. Many people are drawn to Pacific Heights for its excellent schools, easy public transportation, and close proximity to several parks. Alta Plaza Park serves as a favorite spot to catch some sun, play with pets in the off-leash area, and catch a game of tennis or basketball. Commuting could not be easier with California and Bush Streets taking you directly downtown towards the financial district and SOMA. Freeways can be accessed via Gough Street and Van Ness Avenue nearby. For a carless commute, you can find Muni bus lines running along California and Fillmore Streets.

Holly Hirshfield & Alan Peterson

"Our initial consultation was one of the most memorable discussions we’ve had with someone in the business. She demonstrated through examples how creative, solutions-oriented and innovative her approach was; notably how her team adapted to the covid-19 environment through novel and personal marketing and attention to detail via virtual experiences. Other Realtors offered us a lower rate but we believe we got the quality and caliber we paid for."
N.O., Seller
"Ruth is a down-to-earth, friendly pit bull who represented us well and never let her guard down. She prepared us, protected us, and positioned us for what could not have been a more successful sale."
J.R., Seller
"In this very tough market, she got my family into a fantastic home. I was getting ready to walk away from the SF market altogether, because I just didn't think we could find what we wanted in a home at a price we could pay. Ruth is an absolute pro and helped us get the house we wanted. Ruth is a master real estate agent and the one you want in San Francisco."
H.H & A.P., Buyer
"In such a competitive market we needed an edge to get the home we wanted and we found that with Ruth and her team. She is down to earth, very personable and a master negotiator. She is honest, understanding, and not just out to make the sale."
R.M., Buyer
"Ruth was quick to assess our needs, the property needs, and the San Francisco market needs. She considered the property thoughtfully as she made recommendations for any renovations or work required. Her experience and knowledge as an interior designer is an asset. She creatively played with the space to increase its marketability and our home was beautifully displayed. We were pleased with the amount of offers and felt that Ruth's knowledge attributed to our success."
